Officially called
our 6th Annual Clif Bar Cycling Challenge, “Tour de Coloma”.
During this three-week camp we will provide a series of
bicycle clinics where youth will learn the basics of bicycle
safety, care and maintenance from how to change a flat tire to
fixing the chain and cables. Riders will also learn pacing in
order to ride 30-40 miles a day, hill climbing, and map
reading. Daily rides will take us all around the Bay, East Bay
Regional Parks, and local city streets.
Camp includes
Saturday, July 10, from 9-4 p.m. for off-road cycling through
Wildcat Canyon with Youth Bike Adventures! Lunch, water,
t-shirt, a bike and transportation are all provided! The real
challenge begins week three (July 19-23)! We’ll head out on
our bikes from Berkeley to
Coloma for a
3-day/125-mile bike ride (a 2 1⁄2 hour drive by car).
Our schedule is to ride 50 miles to W. Sacramento’s KOA
Kampground on the first day; 50 miles to Beale’s Pt. @
Folsom lake State Recreation Area the second day; and 25 miles
into Coloma on the third day where we’ll camp and go
whitewater rafting down 14 miles with Whitewater
Connection!
Take
the Challenge!
